Google announced the creation of the Google Display Network this past Friday. The network includes all non-search properties that run display advertising through Google’s AdSense program.
The network includes standards such as Google Finance, Gmail, Google Maps, Blogger as well as YouTube. In addition, web sites, video, gaming, and mobile display partner sites are also included, bringing the total to over a million web properties. According to Website Magazine, a website showcasing the network has been launched at http://www.google.com/adwords/displaynetwork/ .
Text, image, rich media, and video ad formats are supported. Advertisers wishing to take advantage of the extended resources of the network bid on search terms through Googles pay per click (ppc) program, AdWords.
